AoS chaplain blesses the Britannia

Reverend Roger Stone, cruise chaplain and Apostleship of the Sea’s (AoS) port chaplain for Southampton was on the newly-launched P&O Cruises ship Britannia before it set sail on its maiden voyage from the port on March 14.
Roger met with some of the officers and crew on board and also blessed the ship, which was named by the Queen on March 10.
Roger is one of 25 cruise chaplains with AoS who are deployed on P&O Cruises and Cunard cruise ships during Easter and Christmas to look after the pastoral needs of the crew.
Our chaplains go on board to offer practical and pastoral support including providing internet access, phone cards, hearing confession, saying Mass and holding communion services and offering prayers. Basically being a good friend to the crew.
Roger says that the relationship between AoS and Carnival UK (the operators of P&O Cruises and Cunard) grows stronger every day, all for the benefit of seafarers on board.
