New Catholic Radio Launches

To coincide with the start of the Year of Faith ‘Heart Gives Unto Heart Catholic Internet Radio’ plans to hit the airwaves in October. The radio is based at St John’s Seminary, Wonersh and first broadcast during Pope Benedict’s visit to the UK in 2010. From 7th October they plan to broadcast a wide range of programmes every evening with a longer time on Sundays.
The new internet radio is brainchild of Gerry Coates a Catholic singer/songwriter who said “The new internet radio sees its mission as providing a positive voice to celebrate our Catholic Faith, we aim to appeal to a wide audience and will broadcast a magazine mix of programmes including:
● Daily Mass and Daily prayers
● Poetry Corner
● Celebrity interviews
● Showcasing Catholic Charities
● Regional input from the local Churches
● Music – showcasing Catholic talent from Gregorian Chant to Catholic Dubstep
● Seventh Heaven – HGUH’s own take on Desert Island Discs
● Island of Saints – an insight into English Saints
● Discussion Programmes – Question of Faith
● Lots of other exciting topics

Gerry said that “I believe strongly that the talents in our Catholic community should be encouraged and through this new medium we hope to increase communication within the Catholic community by providing a platform for Catholic clergy and lay people, schools, and charities to have their voices heard”
The new internet radio is being run entirely by volunteers and the majority of the programmes will be original and produced by the volunteers themselves. Gerry is very keen to hear from any enthusiastic volunteers (no experience necessary) who would like to get involved with broadcasting either in as a programme maker, in a background role, or on the more technical production/broadcast side.
