Record Christmas shoeboxes in Grimsby

Apostleship of the Sea in Grimsby received an incredible response from Holy Trinity parish both in donations and volunteers for Christmas shoeboxes.
In total, they packed and wrapped 307 shoeboxes, a record number for the area!

Our Immingham port chaplain Bryony Watson was also at the shoebox packing held at St Joseph’s Primary Catholic Academy, Cleethorpes.
Bryony said, "They have always been a wonderful support to us, and have continued that this year. The pupils of Year 5 packed and wrapped 40 beautiful gifts for the seafarers."

Bryony then delivered 22 shoeboxes were to the crew of MV Orient Champion, a bulker heading for New Orleans.
By the time they reach port, Christmas will be over. They were particularly touched that the children had thought of them, and given them gifts.
One seafarer said it is the first time in his whole career that he had received a Christmas present.
